Australia and Canada have elevated their partnership by launching new collaborations in critical minerals, defense, and AI. As part of Canada Prime Minister Mark Carney’s visit to Canberra, the leaders released a joint statement outlining initiatives such as welcoming Australia into the Critical Minerals Production Alliance, launching a Clean Energy Partnership, and initiating training of Canadian Armed Forces personnel on the Arctic Over-the-Horizon Radar system in Australia. Additionally, they agreed to advance industrial collaboration in defense sectors and signed a Memorandum of Understanding on AI Safety to enhance cooperation between their AI safety institutes.
