It is reported that, according to inside sources, Chinese customs authorities have told customs agents that Nvidia’s H200 AI chips are not permitted to enter China. Sources say that Chinese government officials have summoned domestic technology companies to meetings where they were explicitly instructed not to purchase the chips unless necessary. The authorities had not provided any reasons for their directives and had not given any indication whether this constitutes a formal ban or a temporary measure. Further official details have yet to be revealed.
