US senators Mark R. Warner (D-VA), Josh Hawley (R-MO), Richard Blumenthal (D-CT), Chris Murphy (D-CT), and Katie Britt (R-AL) have introduced the GUARD Act, a bipartisan bill aimed at protecting minors from the potential dangers of AI chatbots. The legislation seeks to ban AI companions for minors, require AI chatbots to disclose their non-human status, and establish new criminal offenses for companies that develop AI targeting minors with solicitations or production of sexual content.
