South Korea’s data protection authority (PIPC) has announced that new downloads of Chinese AI app DeepSeek have been suspended in the country after DeepSeek acknowledged failing to take into account some of the agency’s rules on protecting personal data. The suspension will remain in place until the company strengthens its privacy policies to comply with the country’s Personal Information Protection Act.
