UK government pledge free AI training for all, aiming to provide 10 million workers with key AI skills by 2030

The UK government has announced the expansion of its AI Skills Boost programme to offer free AI training to all UK adults, aiming to upskill 10 million workers by 2030. This initiative provides online courses through the AI Skills Hub, enabling participants to earn a virtual AI foundations badge. The training focuses on practical AI applications, such as drafting text and creating content, to enhance workplace productivity. New partners, including the NHS and techUK, have joined the programme, which has already delivered one million courses since June. Additionally, a new cross-government unit has been launched to advise on AI’s economic and labor market impacts, and £27 million in funding has been allocated to connect people to tech jobs and create new professional practice courses and graduate traineeships.
