It is reported that Indonesia is prioritising the establishment of regulations governing AI in 2026, as announced by Minister of Communication and Digital Application Meutya V. Hafid. The government is preparing a Presidential Regulation on the National AI Roadmap and guidelines on AI safety and ethics, with plans for each ministry and agency to develop sector-specific regulations upon its enactment. The Ministry of Communication and Digital Application will oversee AI governance, while technical implementation will be managed by individual ministries. An initial ministerial regulation will mandate labeling of AI-generated content.
