Preventing Deep Fake Scams Act introduced

US senator Jon Husted (R-Ohio) has introduced the Preventing Deep Fake Scams Act. This bill would establish a task force to assess how financial institutions can use AI to protect against fraud and identify potential risks associated with abusing AI technology, particularly deepfakes. It would also establish best practices to safeguard consumers from these types of financial crimes. The task force would produce a detailed report of its findings to Congress within one year of the bill’s enactment.
