Kirkland & Ellis, the world’s highest-grossing law firm with $10.6 billion in 2025 revenue, will stop sharing its financial figures with The American Lawyer, the industry’s main ranking of law firm profits and revenues. In a letter to AmLaw, the firm said disclosure no longer provided “meaningful value” to clients and could incentivize quantitative metrics over qualitative strengths. The move follows Freshfields’ 2023 decision to stop reporting voluntarily, and comes as top lawyer pay has soared, with Kirkland equity partners earning an average of $11.1 million in 2025, up 20% on the previous year.
