Anthropic Makes Its Biggest Legal AI Push Yet with Claude Connectors and Practice Plugins

Anthropic launched a major Claude for Legal expansion on May 12, adding 20+ MCP connectors and 12 legal practice-area plugins for law firms and legal departments. The connectors cover tools such as Thomson Reuters/CoCounsel, LexisNexis, iManage, NetDocuments, DocuSign, Ironclad, Box, Everlaw, Relativity, Consilio and others. The plugins target commercial, corporate, employment, privacy, product, regulatory, AI governance, IP and litigation work. For lawyers, the significance is not just “AI drafting,” but workflow integration: Claude can operate closer to existing legal systems, documents and permissions. The usual caveat remains: Anthropic’s claims are vendor claims, and human review, confidentiality controls and hallucination checks remain essential.
