Four in 10 UK adults would ask AI instead of a lawyer, Uswitch survey finds

A UK survey by comparison site Uswitch has found that 39% of 2,000 adults would consider asking AI instead of a lawyer for a legal question, with respondents citing speed (43%), 24/7 availability (42%), and lower cost (41%) as the main reasons. 18% have made a personal decision based solely on a chatbot’s advice, rising to 40% among Gen Z, and nearly half of users said they trusted AI as much as or more than a friend or family member. Almost a quarter who turned to AI reported receiving wrong guidance that caused real problems.
