Newcode rolls out first AI training programme for Irish legal professionals

Newcode has launched a six-week AI training programme for 475 legal professionals across 30 Irish law firms, described as the first coordinated legal AI training programme of its kind in Ireland. Participants come from corporate, commercial, and general practice. The programme includes practical training, an AI Champions track, and senior leadership sessions on AI strategy and governance. Donna O’Leary, head of Newcode AI Ireland and a former Mason Hayes & Curran solicitor, said meaningful adoption requires governance and capability building, not just tool access. The launch follows Newcode’s appointment as AI provider to the Bar of Ireland and its total funding reaching €17 million. A second intake is expected before year-end, alongside a new Newcode AI Academy offering ongoing training.
