Legalito's Smart Enquiries: Bringing Clarity to a Dark Corner of Conveyancing

Turning the Enquiry Process Into Something Less… Painful

Ask any conveyancer where the bottlenecks are, and they’ll likely point to the same thing: pre-contract enquiries. Vague responses, repeated questions, cluttered formatting, and endless email chains make what should be a routine part of property transactions feel like a time sink.

Legalito’s Smart Enquiries, developed out of a UK-based conveyancing firm, sets out to reduce that friction. It doesn’t aim to replace legal expertise—just the hours spent chasing it through admin. The result is a tool that helps lawyers do what they do best, just more efficiently.

Less Churn, More Clarity

Smart Enquiries is built to reduce repetition and surface high-quality answers faster. Its “Smart Responses” feature lets lawyers reuse previously vetted answers across matters. Instead of typing out the same drainage clause rejection repeatedly, users can apply a firm-approved response in seconds.

Smart Import allows replies in any format—PDFs, Word docs, emails—to be dropped into the platform without breaking the workflow. Supporting docs remain attached, formatting is preserved, and everything lands in the right matter file automatically.

A shared library of firm-approved templates supports more consistent replies, while individual lawyers can also build their own bank of go-to responses for niche scenarios like solar panels or septic tanks.

Built With, Not Just For, Conveyancers

Legalito’s team developed Smart Enquiries in collaboration with real conveyancers, and the difference shows. The platform is web-based, with no installation required, and works seamlessly with case management systems like LEAP, Smokeball, Actionstep, InTouch, and adoor. Office365 single sign-on ensures quick access.

The tool supports permanent and temporary case allocations, easy exporting of enquiry sets (in PDF, Word, or text), and better management of client follow-up.

It’s already being used by over 2,500 lawyers across 1,100 firms, with more than 176,000 enquiries processed to date.

Practical Tech That Reduces Drama

Unlike legal tech that overpromises automation, Smart Enquiries keeps its focus on real problems: reducing duplicative effort, improving clarity, and helping teams deliver faster without cutting corners.

By embedding legal experience into flexible templates, simplifying intake and review, and working directly with existing systems, Legalito has created a platform that doesn’t try to reinvent conveyancing—it just makes it smoother, smarter, and more tolerable.
