China and Shanghai Cooperation Organisation to build AI application cooperation centre

China and the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) have released the Construction Plan for the China-SCO AI Application Cooperation Centre, inviting SCO member states (Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, India, Pakistan, and Iran) to jointly build an AI application cooperation centre. The initiative focuses on strengthening practical collaboration in areas including solidifying the foundation for AI development, providing open-source services, enhancing industrial cooperation, and promoting talent cultivation, with the goal of fostering inclusive applications of AI technology. The forum was jointly organised by the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) and the Tianjin Municipal People’s Government.
