Industry associations request extension for EU AI rulebook implementation

15 industry associations led by EuroISPA (a pan-European association which represents over 3,300 internet service providers) have jointly requested EU policymakers to extend the implementation period for the AI Act, urging lawmakers to prolong the grace period for generative AI labeling from six to twelve months and to include systems entering the market after the current deadline of 2 August 2026, warning that failure to do so could result in legal uncertainty and delays, while also recommending the exemption of AI systems not classified as high-risk from registration requirements.
