Regulations on protection of intellectual property rights for virtual assets and AI to be supplemented

It is reported that Minister of Science and Technology Nguyen Manh Hung has presented a proposal to the 15th National Assembly to amend the Intellectual Property Law, aiming to support Vietnam’s goal of becoming a digital nation by 2030. The proposed amendments focus on establishing a clear legal framework for protecting industrial property rights, including user interface designs and virtual assets, and updating regulations to align with global intellectual property protection trends. The draft law also introduces provisions for resolving intellectual property rights conflicts to facilitate commercial exploitation and includes state policies to support the creation and commercialization of intellectual property to promote innovation. Additionally, the National Assembly’s appraising agency recommended further research and refinement of regulations related to artificial intelligence to meet development needs and protect the rights of stakeholders.
