SEC withdraws AI and ESG proposed rules

The Securities and Exchange Commission has withdrawn several rules proposed initially during the Biden administration, including a rule intended to rein in firms’ conflicts of interest when using AI. This “predictive data analytics” rule would have required firms to “eliminate or neutralise” conflicts if using those data tools (such as AI) could place firms’ interests ahead of clients.
