White House AI Czar David Sacks warns against overregulating AI

It is reported that White House AI Czar David Sacks spoke at AWS Summit in Washington, warning that the US is at risk of overregulating artificial intelligence, with hundreds of bills currently making their way through state legislatures. Sacks cautioned that premature or excessive regulation could stifle innovation before the full potential and risks of AI are even understood, potentially harming the economy by “killing this thing in the cradle”. Sacks also downplayed the risk that coveted US AI chips could be smuggled to bad actors, and expressed concern that regulating AI too tightly could stifle growth and cede the critical market to China.
