Uzbekistan Legislative Chamber approves AI bill

It is reported that Uzbekistan’s Legislative Chamber has approved a new bill aimed at regulating AI and establishing legal accountability for the misuse of personal data related to AI technologies. The bill proposes penalties for unauthorized processing and dissemination of personal data, especially through online platforms and media, in light of a significant increase in reported cases of illegal AI-generated content. Other key provisions include government policy priorities on AI development, requirements for labelling AI-generated content, and a ban on AI use cases that could harm human dignity, personal freedoms, health, or individual rights. A copy of the bill has yet to be published.
