The US War Department has launched an AI Acceleration Strategy to secure American military AI dominance by transforming into an “AI-first” force that integrates frontier technology across all combat domains. Mandated by President Trump and led by Secretary Pete Hegseth, this initiative adopts a wartime pace to eliminate bureaucratic hurdles and deploy three million personnel-strong capabilities focused on warfighting, intelligence, and enterprise operations. At the heart of the strategy are seven “Pace-Setting Projects,” such as Swarm Forge and GenAI.mil, which leverage high-level compute infrastructure and partnerships with industry leaders like Google and xAI across all domains from the Pentagon to the tactical edge. Other key initiatives include establishing a unified innovation ecosystem under a single Chief Technology Officer, investing heavily in AI compute infrastructure, and aggressively recruiting top tech talent to ensure the US remains the world’s leading AI-enabled fighting force.
