At the third American Dynamism Summit in Washington DC, US Vice President J.D. Vance delivered a speech which, among other things, reaffirmed the Trump administration’s policy for relaxed regulation of AI. Key statements include: (1) “For all major AI policy decisions coming from the federal government, the Trump Administration will guarantee American workers a seat at the table”; (2) industry and world leaders who are championing strict regulations on AI due to concerns over the technology are based “on a faulty premise”; and (3) “we over-regulated our industries instead of supporting them; we overtaxed our innovators instead of making it easier for them to build their great companies; and we made it way too hard to build things and invest things in the United States of America. That stopped two months ago and it will continue to stop”.
