It is reported that a US House of Representative member Bill Foster (D-Illinois) plans to introduce legislation in coming weeks (with existing bipartisan support) to verify the location of AI chips like those made by Nvidia after they are sold. The bill aims to address reports of widespread smuggling of Nvidia’s chips into China in violation of US export control laws. The legislative text of the bill has yet to be revealed.
