US big tech companies lobby for AI deregulation

It is reported that US President Donald Trump’s call for AI deregulation is receiving substantial support from Big Tech companies based on submissions from the sector in response to the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy’s consultation on the development of a national AI Action Plan. Ideas proposed by major AI companies, including Meta, Google, and OpenAI, have included: (1) seeking exemptions from state AI laws; (2) legal clearance to use copyrighted training data; (3) access to federal resources like energy and tax incentives; and (4) increased government support to counter cybersecurity threats amid an accelerating AI race with China.
