UK House of Common blocks amendment to Data (Use and Access) Bill, returning it to House of Lords

The House of Commons members have blocked an amendment to the Data (Use and Access) Bill that would require AI companies to disclose their use of copyright-protected content. The House of Commons voted 297 to 168 in favour of stripping the amendment, which had been backed by peers in the House of Lords last week, out of the draft text by invoking financial privilege, meaning there is no budget available for new regulations. The manoeuvre sends the bill back to the House of Lords for the third time.
