UK government reportedly slowing down plans for AI regulation bill amidst US situation

It is reported that according to sources within the UK government that (1) the Labour party has slowed down its plans for an AI regulation bill and government ministers have stopped talking about forcing companies to give them pre-release access to models for testing as it monitors the situation in the US following the new Trump administration; and (2) the consultation for an AI regulation bill has been earmarked for “spring 2025” as civil servants work out how to redraft it to keep the US administration and tech companies onside.
