It is reported that the UK government has delayed its plans to regulate AI in order to align with Donald Trump’s administration, with a long-awaited AI bill now not expected to be published until after the summer of 2025, despite initial intentions to release it before Christmas 2024. Sources from within the Labour Party have indicated that the bill, which would have required companies to submit large AI models for testing, has been postponed, and that the government is instead working on proposals to position the UK as a primary hub for US AI investment. Although the Science and Technology Secretary, Peter Kyle, previously suggested the bill was in an advanced stage, its future remains uncertain.
