The UAE and Italy have signed a significant Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance cooperation and investments in digital infrastructure, particularly in data centres and AI. The collaboration will focus on establishing new data centres, including green facilities with a capacity target of up to 2 GW, and exploring the creation of “Virtual Data Embassies” for enhanced cross-border data resilience. Key companies from both countries, such as MGX, G42, Khazna, and ENI, will play crucial roles in developing and operating these data centres. The agreement also emphasises attracting cloud service providers, expanding cloud services, and upskilling local talent in AI and high-performance computing through various educational initiatives.
