Trump Unveils AI-Focused Team to Lead America’s Technological Renaissance

Former President Donald Trump announced on X (formerly Twitter) the key appointments to his administration’s science and technology leadership, emphasizing the role of artificial intelligence and digital assets in maintaining America’s global technological dominance.

Trump’s statement highlights his administration’s commitment to fostering innovation through what he calls a “Golden Age of American Innovation,” spearheaded by White House AI and Crypto Czar David O. Sacks.

High-Profile Appointments to Science and Technology Policy

Michael J.K. Kratsios has been named Director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) and Assistant to the President for Science and Technology. A familiar face from Trump’s first term, Kratsios previously served as the U.S. Chief Technology Officer and Under Secretary of Defense for Research & Engineering, roles for which he was widely praised. Trump’s announcement lauded Kratsios as a “brilliant mind” with a Princeton degree and a Stanford Distinguished Fellowship.

Joining Kratsios is Dr. Lynne Parker, who will serve as Executive Director of the Presidential Council of Advisors for Science and Technology (PCAST) and Counselor to the OSTP Director. Parker, a seasoned AI expert, brings deep credentials, including her role as Founding Director of the National Artificial Intelligence Initiative Office and a PhD in Computer Science from MIT. Trump emphasized her role in assembling the country’s “most distinguished minds in science and technology” to advise on critical issues like AI.

PCAST will be chaired by David Sacks, whose dual leadership in AI and cryptocurrency underscores the administration’s focus on these transformative technologies.

Expanding Crypto Leadership

The newly created Presidential Council of Advisors for Digital Assets, or the “Crypto Council,” will be helmed by Bo Hines as its Executive Director. Hines, a Yale graduate and attorney, will work alongside Sacks to drive innovation in digital assets while providing resources to ensure the industry’s growth and stability.

“Together, they will create an environment where this industry can flourish, and remain a cornerstone of our Nation’s technological advancement,” Trump said.

AI Policy Coordination Across Government

Sriram Krishnan will serve as Senior Policy Advisor for Artificial Intelligence at the OSTP, focusing on coordinating AI policy across government agencies and maintaining U.S. leadership in the field. Trump highlighted Krishnan’s early contributions to Microsoft’s Windows Azure as evidence of his technological expertise.

Krishnan’s role will include working closely with Sacks and advising PCAST on AI-related policies and initiatives.

AI and Digital Assets at the Forefront

Trump’s appointments signal a strategic pivot toward AI and cryptocurrency as pivotal drivers of economic and technological growth. By assembling a team of experienced policymakers and technologists, his administration aims to cement America’s position as a global leader in these fields.

“These appointments ensure we will unleash scientific breakthroughs and safeguard America’s technological dominance,” Trump stated.
