Third draft of the General-Purpose AI Code of Practice published

The European Commission has published the third draft of the EU Code of Practice for General-Purpose AI Models (Code). Compared to the previous two drafts, this version of the Code features a more streamlined structure with refined commitments and measures. The draft is based on a concise list of high-level commitments and provides more detailed measures to implement each commitment (i.e. 2 commitments relate to transparency and copyright for all providers of general-purpose AI models, while a further 16 commitments relate to safety and security only for providers of general-purpose AI models classified as general-purpose AI models with systemic risk). The Code has also been published on a newly launched interactive website (https://code-of-practice.ai/). The deadline for feedback on the third draft is due by 30 March 2025. The final Code is expected to be ready in May 2025.
