Spy watchdog reviewing Canadian security agencies’ use of AI

It is reported that Canada’s National Security and Intelligence Review Agency is conducting a comprehensive examination of how national security organizations define, utilize, and oversee artificial intelligence technologies. This study aims to provide insights into the adoption of emerging tools, guide future evaluations, and identify potential gaps or risks requiring attention. The agency has informed key federal ministers and heads of organizations involved in national security, including the Prime Minister, the Minister of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Innovation, and leaders of the Canadian Security Intelligence Service, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, and the Communications Security Establishment.
