South Korea secures cooperation from six UN agencies for global AI hub

It is reported that South Korea has secured cooperation from six United Nations agencies to establish a global hub for AI within the country. A letter of intent was signed in Geneva, Switzerland, by South Korea’s Ministry of Science and ICT and representatives from the International Labor Organization (ILO), International Organization for Migration (IOM), International Telecommunication Union (ITU), World Health Organization (WHO), World Food Program (WFP), and United Nations Development Program (UNDP). This initiative aims to create a platform that unites U.N. bodies with South Korea’s public and private sectors to develop AI-based solutions addressing global challenges. Prime Minister Kim Min-seok, who attended the signing ceremony, emphasized South Korea’s commitment to assisting developing nations and vulnerable populations through global AI cooperation. The U.N. agency leaders expressed their support and agreed to maintain close communication regarding the hub’s development.
