South Korea has launched a reorganized National Artificial Intelligence Strategy Committee with expanded powers to steer AI policy, replacing a similar body from the previous administration. At its inaugural meeting, the committee approved plans to finalize a national AI action plan by November 2025, and reopen bidding for a private-sector partner to build a national AI computing center. At the same meeting, the Ministry of Science and ICT also disclosed a draft enforcement decree for the AI Basic Act that will be subject to public consultation. The ministry said it will also release two notices, five guidelines and a grace-period plan on fines within the month, with a pre-legislation notice scheduled for October 2025.
