The South Korean government has signed a memorandum of understanding with OpenAI to advance AI collaboration, including facilitating South Korean companies’ participation in the U.S. “Stargate” project—a large-scale AI data center initiative involving investments up to $500 billion by OpenAI, SoftBank, and Oracle. The agreement also encompasses efforts to promote balanced regional development of Korea’s AI ecosystem, support AI transformation in the public sector, foster AI talent cultivation, and bolster the domestic startup ecosystem.
