It is reported that at a press conference following the Perak Ignite Entrepreneur Summit 2025 at SMJK Yuk Choy, Malaysia’s Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Chang Lih Kang revealed that there is no a clear time frame yet for an AI-specific law in Malaysia but it remains a goal for the future. In the meantime, Minister Chang said existing laws including the Malaysia Communications and Multimedia Act and the Penal Code can be used to regulate AI, though “some tweaks are needed”.
