In his speech at the second session of the 32nd APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting in South Korea, President Xi proposed the establishment of a World Artificial Intelligence Cooperation Organization to provide the international community with public goods on AI, and noted that China is ready to work with all APEC members to enhance AI literacy and bridge the digital and AI divide in the Asia Pacific region. Chinese officials have said the organisation could be based in the commercial hub of Shanghai. China will host the 2026 APEC summit in Shenzhen, a major hub for manufacturing, from robotics to electric car production.
