In a post on Truth Social, President Donald Trump said he will be directing all federal agencies to immediately cease using technology from Anthropic following a deadlock between the Department of Defense and Anthropic over ethical guidelines for AI systems. The Pentagon had demanded that Anthropic relax its ethical constraints, but the company refused, leading to the termination of their collaboration. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth subsequently designated Anthropic as a supply-chain risk to national security, a classification typically reserved for foreign adversaries, potentially jeopardising the company’s partnerships with other businesses.
