PPC provides guidance relating to DeepSeek privacy policy

The Japanese DPA (PPC) has provided guidance to Japanese companies regarding DeepSeek’s privacy policy. In particular, the PPC has pointed to two aspects of DeepSeek’s privacy policy, namely: (1) data including personal information acquired by DeepSeek in connection with the use of the service shall be stored on a server located in the People’s Republic of China; and (2) the laws and regulations of the People’s Republic of China apply to such data.
