It is reported that during the West Africa Compliance Summit in Cape Verde, the Director-General of Nigeria’s Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Dr. Emomotimi Agama, has emphasized the necessity for unified regulation and the deployment of AI tools for blockchain analytics to monitor illicit transactions, aiming to protect market integrity and consumers. Dr. Agama also called for regional collaboration among West African regulators to combat crypto-related crimes, advocating for a Unified Virtual Asset Service Provider (VASP) Licensing System to prevent bad actors from exploiting regulatory gaps across borders.
