The National AI Strategy Committee has finalized the AI Action Plan, aiming to elevate South Korea into the top three AI nations by 2026-2028, with a focus on creating an innovation ecosystem, enhancing governance, and promoting scientific competitiveness through initiatives like the K-Moonshot Strategy. During its second plenary session, the committee discussed five key agendas: the AI Action Plan, governance directions for AI infrastructure, a roadmap for a security vulnerability reporting system, the K-Moonshot Strategy, and amendments to the committee’s operating regulations. The AI Action Plan includes 99 execution tasks and 326 policy recommendations aimed at integrating AI across various sectors, improving public welfare, and establishing a robust governance framework. Additionally, the committee plans to enhance cybersecurity through a proactive vulnerability reporting system, inspired by successful models in the U.S. and Europe, while also restructuring its internal organization to better address AI governance and public engagement.
