After facing a year-long regulatory delay, Meta has announced that its AI-powered virtual assistant, Meta AI, will finally launch in the European Union but with a more limited feature set compared to what it offers in its domestic US market. EU users will not be able to generate images or upload their own pictures to Meta AI to analyse and answer questions about. The delay in the EU launch was primarily due to concerns over data privacy regulations and compliance with the GDPR.
