It is reported that, according to Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo, Malaysia is working to enhance its status as a regional AI hub through the National AI Action Plan 2026–2030, which is being developed by the National Artificial Intelligence Office (NAIO). Key initiatives include the ‘AI for My Future’ program in partnership with Microsoft, aimed at training nearly 800,000 Malaysians, and educational projects like ‘MyDigital Maker’ and ‘Cikgu Juara Digital’ by the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) to equip students and educators with essential digital skills. Additionally, the ‘AI@Work’ initiative with Google seeks to train 445,000 public servants in AI tools to boost government efficiency. The government is also contemplating a dedicated AI law to ensure effective governance while pursuing its ambitions as a regional AI leader.
