It is reported that Finance Minister Satsuki Katayama has scheduled a meeting with leaders from Japan’s largest banks and financial institutions, including Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group, Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group, and Mizuho Financial Group, to discuss Anthropic’s AI model Mythos, as reported by sources familiar with the matter. This meeting, expected to occur this week, comes in response to global regulatory concerns regarding cybersecurity vulnerabilities highlighted by Mythos, which has had a limited release. Financial watchdogs in Asia are increasing their scrutiny of risks within financial systems and urging banks to strengthen their defenses against cyber threats, although Japan’s Financial Services Agency has not commented on the upcoming meeting.
