Isle of Man to develop its own AI regulation rather than adopting the EU AI Act

It is reported that Chief Minister Alf Cannan has announced that the Isle of Man will develop its own rules and regulations for AI instead of adopting those from the European Union. In response to a question from Rushen MHK Juan Watterson regarding the government’s plans for AI regulation, Minister Cannan stated that a tailored national AI strategy is being formulated, which may incorporate elements from existing laws in other jurisdictions. He indicated that this strategy will be presented to the Isle of Man legislature once it is finalised.
