It is reported that Australia’s Industry Minister Ed Husic has stated that the federal government is committed to finalising its risk-based model for regulating AI despite pull-back in the US and the EU. Minister Husic said the government’s proposed mandatory guardrails for AI in high-risk settings would be “prioritised” if Labor is re-elected for a second term in the upcoming May 2025 election.
