The Communication and Digital Ministry has authorised the resumption of X’s Grok chatbot services in Indonesia, lifting a three-week ban originally imposed due to the dissemination of AI-generated sexualized images. This decision follows a written commitment from X Corp to enhance compliance with local laws and implement “layered” measures to prevent further abuse, though the government maintains that access remains conditional and subject to strict, ongoing supervision. The regional crackdown on Grok’s generated content also extended to Malaysia, where the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) similarly restored access after a nearly two-week block following the platform’s confirmation of new preventive and security protocols.
