Hong Kong’s Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data (PCPD) has released guidelines for the use of generative AI by employees, helping organisations in developing internal policies for employee use of generative AI at work while complying with the requirements of the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (PDPO). The guidelines cover: (1) scope of permissible use of generative AI; (2) protection of personal data privacy; (3) lawful and ethical use and prevention of bias; (4) data security; and (5) violations of policies or guidelines.
