Italy’s data protection authority (Garante) has announced it is seeking answers from Chinese AI model startup DeepSeek on what personal data is collected, from which sources, for what purposes, on what legal basis, and whether it is stored in China. DeepSeek has 20 days to respond to these inquiries.
