FCC’s order on Robocall Mitigation Database enters into force

The Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) order on improving the effectiveness of the robocall mitigation database (FCC-24-135) has entered into force. The order includes (1) filing requirements for the Robocall Mitigation Database, with a grace period until 1 March 2025, to enhance compliance and awareness among voice service providers regarding their responsibilities to protect consumers; (2) requirements for providers to re-certify annually by 1 March and pay a USD 100 filing fee; and (3) mandate for providers to provide timely updates on company information, with fines of USD 10’000 for false or inaccurate submissions and USD 1’000 for outdated information. To improve the database’s reliability and security, the FCC will establish a reporting mechanism, issue additional guidance, and implement two-factor authentication.
