It is reported that the European Parliament looks increasingly likely to not oppose the withdrawal of legislative proposals on AI liability and standard essential patents after the largest political group, the center-right European People’s Party, said it would not challenge the European Commission’s plan to ditch the proposed laws. The commission suggested dropping the draft laws in February 2025 due to insufficient political support, though a final decision isn’t due until later this summer.
