European Commission launches consultation on Cloud and AI Development Act

The European Commission has launched a consultation seeking feedback on the preparatory work for the Cloud and AI Development Act and the single EU-wide cloud policy for public administrations and public procurement. In particular, the Commission seeks different stakeholder views on (1) the EU’s capacity in cloud and edge computing infrastructure, especially in light of increasing data volumes and demand for computing resources, both fuelled by the rise of compute-intensive AI services; and (2) the use of cloud services in the public sector. The consultation closes on 4 June 2025.
