The meeting was co-chaired by key figures from both sides, including Sabine Weyand, the EU’s Director General for Trade, and Roberto Viola, Director General for Communications Networks, Content and Technology. Representing the U.S. were Jose Fernandez, Under Secretary of State for Economic Growth, Energy, and the Environment, Marisa Lago, Under Secretary of Commerce for International Trade, and Senior Advisor to the U.S. Trade Representative, Cara Morrow.

Focus on AI and Digital Infrastructure

During the discussions, officials emphasized the importance of ongoing collaboration in artificial intelligence. Emerging technology standards, particularly digital identity, were also a key topic, with both sides recognizing the significance of setting global standards that foster security and trust in digital ecosystems.

Secure Supply Chains and Sustainable Trade

Another major focus was the cooperation on secure supply chains, specifically for critical sectors like solar and semiconductors. Both the EU and the U.S. reiterated their commitment to promoting sustainable and secure trade and investment across the Atlantic.
